Additionally, it also carries black crappie, channel catfish, and seasonally stocked rainbow trout. It’s important to realize that this lake has been designated a Catch and Release Bass Fishing Area. This means that people must release any largemouth or smallmouth bass back into the water.
Point Lookout State Park
Located on the peninsula between the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River, Point Lookout State Park is a peaceful fishing location. Although it’s about an hour trip from Waldorf, it’s worth it for these views! With various fishing areas including a Fishing Pier, fishing is allowed 24 hours a day. However, if you are planning on night fishing you will need a night fishing pass.
Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary
Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. With five fishing ponds stocked with largemouth bass, bluegills, and a variety of other fish, it’s a perfect place for fishing around Waldorf. Not only will visitors enjoy fishing, but there are many opportunities to view the wildlife that inhabits the area. Smallwood State Park
Smallwood State Park in Marbury, Maryland is home to several different fishing spots, whether from the piers or the shore. Fish here include largemouth bass, catfish, carp, as well as white and yellow perch. Keep in mind, when fishing here a Chesapeake Bay Sportfishing License is required.
