In a world where many are focused on work, school, and “the grind,” it’s essential to find an outlet or an escape. One of the best ways to do so is through an activity that uses your creativity! Exercising creativity is vital for a variety of reasons. Creativity can help us solve problems openly, inspire, and open our minds. So if you’re looking for a creative outlet, look no further than the Neighborhood Creative Arts Center!
About the Neighborhood Creative Arts Center
The Neighborhood Creative Arts Center (NCAC) strives to provide a space for people of all ages to explore, learn, and experience creatively. From learning an instrument to creating art, they offer a variety of programs, each of which has creativity at its core. Whether you’d like to sign your child up for a course, or you’d like to get involved yourself, there’s something for everyone!
The Neighborhood Creative Arts Center has a variety of programs to choose from! Their music programs have both individual and group lessons for various instruments. In addition to in-person music programs, they also offer virtual ones!
If music isn’t your thing, check out their Enrichment Classes! These include:
- Creative Writing
- Science Club
- Art Therapy
- Nature Studies
Their Enrichment Classes give you a chance to explore anything from a private art lesson to a science experiment! No matter what creative itch you’re looking to scratch, their Enrichment Classes can provide an outlet for you.
Family Service Opportunities
Serving others is something that will always be important no matter what stage of life you are in. NCAC’s Family Service Opportunities are a great way to get your entire family involved in community service! They offer volunteering at the Nanjemoy Creek Environmental Education Center. Volunteers will clean bird cages, prepare meat for feeding, and feed raptors! Other volunteer opportunities include Adopt-a-Stream. Here, volunteers will adopt a stream and organize a community clean-up once or twice a year.
In this program, teenagers will develop leadership skills and focus on service! Each week there will be a guest speaker, so teens can learn about their careers and how they became community leaders. In addition to guest speakers, teens will engage in community volunteer projects. This program is for ages 12-18!
Charles County Heritage Project
Charles County is home to a lot of history! As a result, the goal of the Charles County Heritage Project is to preserve that history. This project aims to collect various personal stories of long-time Southern Maryland residents. They will then share these stories online, with permission of course, through photos and text. If you have something in mind or know a long-term resident, share your story! Learn more here.
If your child is struggling at school, it can be difficult to give them the help they need. However, with the help of Virtual Tutoring at NCAC, they’ll be back on track in no time! They offer various one-on-one tutoring programs to Charles County students. Learn more here.
In addition to its extensive list of programs, NCAC also offers various free events as well as academic events. Free events range from the Giving Fair and the Community Mural Project to virtual field trips. Their academic events include History Day, a Spelling Bee, a Science Fair, and Live Online Classes! Check out the dates of each of these events and add them to your calendar.
From art and music programs to tutoring and volunteering, the Neighborhood Creative Arts Center is a place for people of all ages to gather to learn, explore, and practice creativity! Find the perfect program or event for you or your children.
