If you aren’t already aware, Bubble Bath Day is January 8th. Bubble baths are a good way to relax and take away the stress, but did you know there are other ways to practice self care? Not only can self care help you physically, but it can also improve mental health. There are several different ways to practice self care including exercise, meditation, and reorganizing.
Get Moving!
Exercising is a great way to release endorphins and help brighten your mood. Getting the motivation to exercise can sometimes be difficult, but working out doesn’t have to be monotonous and boring. Why not try a new type of workout or check out that yoga place you’ve been dying to try? Grab a friend and go for a walk, or a take a nice bike ride from Adams Crossing to their sister property Center Pointe Apartments and back. Residents of Adams Crossing also enjoy the benefit of access to our apartmetnt community’s fitness center. Additionally, adult recreational sports are available through Charles County Parks & Rec. Exercise is easily one of the best ways to practice self care, so get out there and get moving!
Meditation
Perhaps you think meditation sounds a little far out, but meditating can actually help reduce anxiety and calm the mind. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, taking a few minutes to breathe deeply and clear your mind can help you relax. You don’t have to take out a yoga mat and sit cross-legged to meditate. Even if you’re at work, you can take a five minute break and spend a few moments meditating at your desk. You’ll be surprised how helpful meditation can be!
Reorganize!
As the new year has arrived, it’s the perfect time to reorganize your apartment. If you’re feeling cluttered and uninspired, take a weekend to reorganize. Donate any old items you don’t need and focus on the things you love the most. Organizing can help motivate you to start a new project or finish an old one you’ve been working on for a while.
From long, hot bubble baths with a glass of wine to a walk around the neighborhood, there are a multitude of ways to practice self care. Even though life gets busy and we feel like time is short, take a few moments to take care of yourself. Mental health is just as important as physical, so be sure to take care of your mind in addition to your body!
