Drive an hour down the road to Breezy Point Beach & Campground! This is the perfect place if you’re looking for a beach that offers a little something for everyone. Lounge on the half-mile of sandy beaches to catch some rays! The kids will enjoy building sandcastles, searching the beach for shark teeth, and swimming in the water. Breezy Point has a netted swimming area. Interested in doing a little fishing or crabbing? There’s a 200-foot pier for fishers and crabbers to utilize! Pack lunch and enjoy a picnic on the beach, or bring some food to grill on the public grills. Whether you want to swim, lounge, picnic, or fish, you can do it all at Breezy Point.

Aquia Landing

About an hour and a half from Adams Crossing, Aquia Landing is a 32-acre park that offers both a spot to fish and a spot to swim! Well worth the drive, Aquia Landing is a peninsula that overlooks Aquia Creek. With lots of wildlife to see, you’ll want to keep an eye out as you lounge on the sandy beach. So whether you want to swim, fish, or relax, you’ll find something fun to do here at Aquia Landing!

Calvert Cliffs State Park

Calvert Cliffs State Park spans 24 miles along the Chesapeake Bay shoreline. These beautiful cliffs were formed 10 to 20 million years ago and now serve as a breathtaking beach location for visitors to enjoy swimming, exploring, and more. Relax on the beach or scour the park for unique fossils. In fact, over 600 species of fossils have been discovered here! When you aren’t exploring or lounging, you can go fishing, hiking on the trails, or have a picnic! Calvert Cliffs State Park is open from sunrise to sunset, and it costs $5 per vehicle and an additional $2 for out-of-state residents.

Sandy Point State Park

Sandy Point State Park is located along the Chesapeake Bay, about an hour from Adams Crossing. With a beach spanning one mile, there is plenty of room to lounge, play games, and swim! Part of the beach has lifeguards from 10 am to 6 pm. Pack a lunch and enjoy a day in the sun! Forget something? Not to worry! Picnic supplies and snack foods are available in the South Beach area of Sandy Point State Park. If the kids need a break from the water, they can play on the playground! In addition to the playground, you can also find pavilions, trails, and spots to fish and crab at the park. You certainly won’t get bored at Sandy Point State Park! A day-use admission fee is $5 per person on the weekends and $4 per person on weekdays.
