At Adams Crossing, we believe there is always a reason to celebrate! We just celebrated the coming of spring, along with several fun March holidays. But April has plenty of reasons to raise a glass (or juice box) too. Check out our list of upcoming April holidays to celebrate with friends and family.
April Fools Day
Sunday, April 1
This unofficial holiday invites pranksters to run rampant for one day by tricking people into believing something other than the truth before exclaiming, “April Fools!” Don’t be the person who forgets it’s April Fools Day on Sunday.
Easter
Sunday, April 1
Easter also falls on April Fools Day this year. This could allow for some interesting pranks involving the contents of Easter eggs or who is inside the bunny costume!
National Tartan Day
Friday, April 6
What is National Tartan Day? If you’re like most people, you didn’t even know it existed. However, this holiday impacts your everyday life more than most. National Tartan Day serves as a reminder for how the Scottish Declaration of Independence impacted the formulation of our very own Declaration of Independence in the United States. It also allows us to shine a spotlight on the accomplishments of Scottish Americans. The Irish just had their day in March; now it’s time for the Scottish to have theirs on April 6th!
National Library Workers’ Day
Tuesday, April 10
National Library Workers’ Day celebrates the contributions of librarians and other library personnel to helping people access information via books, computers, and other media. Americans celebrate this day by giving library workers awards, bringing them lunch or other treats, and making donations to libraries.
Thomas Jefferson’s Birthday
Friday, April 13
Speaking of the Declaration of Independence…Thomas Jefferson was born in April! This founding father held an integral part of shaping our country. He is credited with penning the American Declaration of Independence.
Emancipation Day
Monday, April 16
While only a legal holiday in Washington, DC, Adams Crossing’s close proximity to our nation’s capital means we acknowledge the holiday as well! This day remembers the turning point in American history when President Abraham Lincoln signed the Compensated Emancipation Act in 1862. The Compensated Emancipation Act put a legal end to slavery.
Tax Day
Tuesday, April 17
Mark your calendars for April 17th! This is the 2018 deadline to file your income taxes to the IRS.
Administrative Professionals Day
Wednesday, April 25
Administrative Professionals Day recognizes the important work that administrative professionals do to support business operations. We have many administrative professionals who reside at Adams Crossing, so thank you for all you do!
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
Thursday, April 26
If you’re a parent, instead of dropping your child off at daycare on April 26th, bring them to your place of work. They will enjoy seeing what mommy or daddy does all day, and you’ll appreciate the extra quality time with your little one.
That’s our list of upcoming April holidays! Which are you planning to celebrate? Let us know in the comments below if we missed any!
